Muhammad H. Rashid is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Florida Poly after serving as a professor at the University of West Florida, University of Florida, and Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
His textbooks are adopted at 57 US universities that include Stanford, Cornell, Dartmouth RIT, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Rose-Hulman, NYU and UT Austin, as well as all over the world with translations in Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Korean, Italian, Chinese, and Persian.
Rashid has received many invitations from foreign governments and agencies to give keynote lectures and consult, by foreign universities to serve as an external examiner for undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. examinations, by funding agencies to review research proposals, and by U.S. and foreign universities to evaluate promotion cases for professorship. In addition to travelling to almost every state in United States, he has travelled to many countries to lecture and present papers namely Japan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Libya, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Malta, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Brazil, and Mexico).
Rashid has worked as a regular employee or a consultant in Canada, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malta, Libya, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
He is a Life Fellow of IEEE, USA and a Fellow of IET, UK. Rashid was awarded the 1991 Outstanding Engineer Award, the 2002 IEEE Educational Activity Award (EAB), Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education, the 2008 IEEE Undergraduate Teaching Award, and the IEEE 2013 Industry Applications Society Outstanding Achievement Award.
He is currently an ABET program evaluator for electrical and computer engineering (and general) engineering. He is the series editor of Power Electronics and Applications, and Nanotechnology and Applications with the CRC Press, and Electric Energy Series with Springer. Authored the book The Process of Outcome-Based Education-Implementation, Assessment and Evaluations.
